Josephine D. "Jo" Mayer, age 85 of Huber Heights, passed away unexpectedly on January 16, 2019. Jo was born in Limerick, Ireland to the late Thomas and Eileen Stapleton on June 14, 1933. Jo moved to the United States to start a family in 1954. She attended UK and Wright State University. Jo was a skilled seamstress and a devoted mother and grandmother. Jo was a member of the English Club, which she enjoyed very much.
Jo always took time to keep in touch with her family in England. Not only was she a devoted mother and grandmother, but she loved her siblings, nieces, and nephews dearly.
She took great pride in her children and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She devoted her life to the care of her family, even helping to raise her grandchildren. Jo was a caring, compassionate, and loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by some of her brothers and sisters.
Jo leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted children; Mike (Maggie) Mayer, Laura (Rick Wickline) Mayer, Lisa (Mike) Griggs; and Kerry (Paul) Sonneborn; sisters, Rita (David) Jackson and Maureen (Bob) Osborn; brother, Robert Stapleton; grandchildren, Tiffany and James Griggs, Robby Wickline, and Nicholas, Michael, and William Sonneborn; and many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A private family service, honoring Jo's life, to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that everyone honor Jo's memory and wishes to just be kind to one another.
