Josephine Burwell, 80, of Dayton Ohio passed away on Thursday May 9th, 2019 at the Friendship Village Nursing home surrounded by family. She was born on August 15th, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio. She was the daughter of Bessie Mae Smith and Isaac Johnson.
Josephine was a faithful devout Jehovah Witness for over 25 years, serving at the Liscum Drive, West Congregation. Josephine was born into a large family of 9 siblings before eventually having her own large family. She shared an unbreakable bond with all of her children and grandchildren. She can be described as the family head who kept them all together. Josephine loved fishing, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.
Surviving in addition to her are her 5 children, Wanda Perry, Melvin (Lisa) Walder, Alan Walder, Clarence Walder, and Sandra Lanier; 16 grandkids and 9 great grandkids; and brother James Johnson. As well as a host of numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Bessie, Father Isaac, sisters Priscilla Malcolm, Ola Mae James, Johnnie Louise Davis, Mary Lee Walder, brothers, Joseph Johnson, Alvester Johnson, Isaac Johnson, daughter Janet Hinton, and Husbands, Thomas Lewis Walder and Willie James Burwell.
Memorial services will be held at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1015 Liscum Dr, Dayton, OH 45418 on Wednesday May 15th, 2019 at Noon. Family will begin receiving at 11: 00 am.
The family will receive food and guests at Martin Luther Community 1453 Liscum Drive, Dayton OH 45417 on Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 at 1:00 pm.
