Joseph McCullough Whitley, "Joe", 93, a Kettering, Ohio resident since 1971, passed away July 28, 2018.
He was born November 3, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Joseph M. and Margaret Helen (Gruber) Whitley. He graduated from Duke University, Class of 1946 and was a Navy veteran of WWII. Joe retired from Nationwide Components after many years of service and continued working on a part time basis. In retirement, he enjoyed his daily excursion to be with his friends at McDonalds at Wilmington Pike and Stroop Road in Kettering.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane "Ducky" in 2017.
Joe is survived by his children, William (Lori) Whitley, David (Mary Beth) Whitley, Cynthia Jackson; grandchildren, Daniel (Emily) Whitley, Ryan Whitley, Meghan (Steve) Karolyi, Heather (Brian) Meyer, Sarah (Andrea Stringer) Whitley, Michael (Alyssa) Whitley, Rebekah (Justin) Ellsworth; great-grandchildren, Eli and Quinn Whitley, Emma and Adam Karolyi, Emily and Katie Meyer; sister, Jean Clemmer, and nieces, Susan (John) McAleavey and Nancy (Tim) Pasterchalk and all of his McDonalds' buddies.
