Joseph Paul Moosbrugger

March 10, 1958 — May 31, 2023

Joseph (Joe) P. Moosbrugger, age 65, died of pancreatic cancer on May 31, 2023, at the home of his
sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Rick Roberts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James V. and Rosemary M. "Tommy" (Engel) Moosbrugger
Flohre; and his brother, Martin Moosbrugger; and sister, Mary Ann Moosbrugger.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Turner; daughter, Crystal Hurt; and grandchildren, Nicholas, William and
Maryanne; his brother, Jerry of Appleton, Wisconsin; brother, John and his wife Patty of Potsdam, New
York; as well as his sisters, Nancy Wood and her husband, Frank of Hilliard, Ohio, Kathleen (Kathy)
Roberts and her husband, Rick of Beavercreek, Ohio and sister, Laurie Dowe and her husband, Pat of
Loudon, Tennessee; as well as nieces and nephews and cousins.

Joe was born on March 10, 1958, at St Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, and was a 1976 graduate of
Fairview High School. He attended Ohio State University.

Joe and his brother John were members of the Dayton Triangles amateur soccer team, where they
developed life-long friendships with fellow team members. Joe later became a soccer referee, officiating
local high school soccer games along with OHSAA tournament games and numerous local soccer
tournament games. Joe also was a softball umpire, well-known for officiating adult leagues at Kettering
field in Dayton.

Joe enjoyed a long career with the City of Dayton Water Department, retiring in March 2021. Along
with his siblings, Joe will be missed by his loving daughter, Crystal and his grandchildren who knew him
as "Papaw" and who became the center of his life. He left a legacy of kindness and generosity by
helping many who were less fortunate than him.

The family would like to thank the staff members of Hospice of Dayton, Miami Valley Hospital and
Premier Blood and Cancer Center who cared for him and eased his transition to the care of the Lord.

The family plans a remembrance gathering for Joe later in the summer.

"God saw you were getting tired
and a cure was not to be.
So He put his arms around you
and He whispered come with me.
With tearful eyes we watched you suffer
and watched you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating.
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
that He only takes the best.
It's lonely here without you.
We miss you more each day.
Life doesn't seem the same
since you went away.
When days are sad and lonely,
and everything goes wrong,
We seem to hear you whisper,
Cheer up and carry on.
Each time we see your picture
you seem to smile and say,
Don't cry, I'm in God's hands.
We'll meet again some day."
