Joe was born on February 1, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas. He passed away on March 24, 2024 at the Dayton VA Hospice. Joe is proceeded in death by Joseph J Cloran Sr., Carrie M. Cloran (Snyder); sister, Mary Catherine Cloran (Penny); and son, Joseph E Cloran.
Joe lived in and went to Cedarville High School where he played football and basketball. After high school, he got drafted to the Army. He was in the Army from December 9, 1965 to November 1967. He was in the 3rd Armored Division where he drove tanks. After getting out of the Army, he started back at General Motors where he retired after 30 years. During his free time, he raced at Kil Kare for many years. Then he started racing at Tri State and Edgewater too. In the meantime, he met and married Wanda (Burchfield) Cloran. They had 3 children, Joseph E. Cloran, John K. Cloran, and Tracy (Cloran) Burk. Joe coached his son John in baseball for 4 years along with playing baseball and softball himself. He managed to squeeze time in for bowling leagues at Woodman Lanes.
Joe has a large and immediate family starting with his son, John Cloran and wife Sandy Cloran; grandsons, Bradley Johnson and Brandon Cloran; granddaughter, Alyssa Cloran; daughter, Tracy L. Burk (Cloran) and husband, Brad Burk; grandsons, Bradley A Burk (Austin) and Kevin T. Burk; great granddaughter, Sydney Cloran; Karen Mace (Cloran) from San Antonio, Texas and extended family in Nova Scotia, Canada; aunt, Marie Snyder and family from Parkers burg, West Virginia; Mary Ellen and family from Cape May, New Jersey; Bruce Snyder and his wife, Anne Snyder and daughter Ashley Snyder from Atlanta, Georgia; cousin, and Mike Snyder from Switzerland.
In Lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society. to the Veterans Hospice of Dayton or to other veterans.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 10-11am at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424. The service will follow at 11am with Father Mike Holloran officiating.
Joe's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
