Age 79, of Tipp City, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011.
Joe was born February 8, 1932 in Muskegon, Michigan to Joseph & Florence (Buchwald) Gerhardstein.
Joe is survived by his wife of the past 42 years, Mary J. (Alig) Gerhardstein; one daughter, Lisa & her husband, Daniel Bowers; one grandson, Christian Bowers; three sons, Eddie, Bryan & Ronnie; one brother, John; one sister, Helen & her husband, Dick; and by his extended family & many good friends.
During the Korean Conflict Joe served in the U. S. Army. After his military service he went on to work as a machinist at Chemineer. He was a member of Calvary Open Bible Church where he also served as a deacon and usher.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
