Joseph L. Coleman, Jr.

Joseph L. Coleman, Jr. "Smok'n JoJo's" age 60, of Dayton, departed this life on July 26, 2023. He was born April 5, 1963 in Ft. Bragg, NC to Joseph L. and Alma Coleman, Sr., who both survive. Joseph was preceded in death by his baby sister, Angela.

Joseph is also survived by his wife of 38 years, Meshel Coleman; daughters: Kandace Coleman, Ashley Coleman and Jasmine Coleman; grandsons: Raishawn, Champion and Dior; brothers: Kenneth Coleman (Stacey) and Kelvin Coleman (Tokyo); a host of other relatives and friends.

Joseph was always giving to his community. He had a heart of gold, never met a stranger and he would always see the best in everyone. He enjoyed music, food and was a great motivation to all who knew him. More than anything, Joseph loved his family, especially spending time with his grandsons; and he was always proud of everyone.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 5191 Hoover Avenue, Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm. Flowers may be sent directly to the church. His burial and military honors will be held at Dayton National Cemetery at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
