Joseph Campbell

Campbell, Joseph Benedict, age 74, of Huber Heights, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at his home. He was born May 24, 1932 in Nashville, TN, the son of Edward Andrew and Artie Francis (Krotzer) Campbell. Joe served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a Master Plumber in 1989 from Plumber's Local 162 after over 30 years of service. Joe was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. He was a fourth degree Knight in Our Lady of Peace Council 4424. Joe was not only an incredible father to his own children, but also shared his love with over 200 foster children. He is preceded in death by his parents, great grandson, Dylan; and his brothers, Robert, Jerome, and Chris Campbell. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Charlene Ann (Haverstock) Campbell; children, Steve (Sandy) Campbell of Union, Kathy (Sonny) Mumford of Vandalia, Mike (Leslie) Campbell of Beavercreek, MaryBeth Campbell of Dayton, Phillip (Conni) Campbell of St. Louis, Fred (Erin) Campbell of Springboro, Lori Campbell of Dayton, Cassandra (Donald) Ward of Englewood, and Christy Campbell of Beavercreek; grandchildren, Tim (Candice) Campbell, Joshua Campbell, Brandon, Sean & Amanda Mumford, Erica, Adam (Melissa), Alex & Austin Campbell, Justin & Sarah Vedder, Freddie Jr., Antoin, Jaylen, Aaron, Cameron, & Lauren Campbell, Jordan & Tyler Campbell, and Kyla Ward; great grandchildren, Harley Campbell, Olivia Rawlings, and Reece Campbell; sisters, Mary Worley, Theresa Waters, and Pat Aydelott all of Dayton; brothers, Tom (Mary) Campbell of West Carrollton , and Charlie Campbell of Dayton; and special friends, Dave & Mary Harker of West Carrollton. According to family and friends, Joe was the unofficial handyman for the city of Dayton and surrounding areas. He will truly be missed by everyone that knew him, but he will always bring a smile to their faces. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 6161 Chambersburg Rd., Huber Heights, OH 45424. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton. Friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH on Friday from 5-8 PM. There will be a brief ceremony at 7:30 on Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Education Fund or Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
