Joseph P. Amatulli, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. He was welcomed with open arms by his loving wife Josephine of 63 years and his son Daniel. Joseph was the son of Peter and Frances Amatulli.
Joseph was survived in death by his daughter Beverly (Emerson) Lightner, grandson Justin Lightner, brothers Carl (Sue) Amatulli, Anthony (Monica) Amatulli, sister-in-law Marguerite Amatulli and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers James (Lucille) Amatulli, Angelo (Lois) Amatulli, Daniel Amatulli, sisters Grace Victori (Nicholas), Irene (Thomas) Thomas, Margo (Thomas) Cribbs, and Annie Amatulli.
Joseph was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. His job as Crew Chief was to maintain jet engines for the fighter planes. His favorite jet to work on was #555. He called it his little bambino.
Joseph loved dancing, buying and selling produce, and telling stories about the past, but most of all he loved his family and friends. He was always giving his friends and family peaches, bananas, and any type of fruit he picked out personally. He was a member and past president of the Shamrock Club in Dayton, VFW in Vandalia, and SuperRite Club in Dayton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Immaculate Conception Parish.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church, 2300 Smithville Road in Dayton. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
