Jonathan Patrick Flowers age 78, son of David and Hulda Flower, passed away on August 9, 2019 in Dayton, Ohio. Jonathan was born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 26, 1941 and was a dual citizen of the US and UK. Jonathan died after a long battle with sarcoidosis.
Jonathan worked at Youngstown Country in his teens and then pursued his 40-year career working in the engineering department at Republic Steel, Truscon Steel Division, Youngstown and Berger Manufacturing, Canton, Ohio and later as direct cost accountant and property administrator for Defense Contract Management Agency, Detroit, Cleveland and Dayton, Ohio.
Jonathan served in the US Army at Fort Richardson Alaska. Jonathan was trained as a helicopter mechanic and CBR warfare specialist and was honorably discharged in 1967 as a Specialist E-5. Jonathan received the National Defense service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Expert Badge Rifle M-14.
Jonathan graduated from Liberty High School in 1959 and earned degrees from Youngstown State University of Akron. Jonathan pursued post graduate work in architecture and graphic design.
Jonathan is survived by his loving wife Carol of 50 years; his daughter, Heather; son, Kevin; a brother David (Carol) Flowers; and sister Margaret Ryan.
With Jonathan's passing, he is joining his parents and lifelong guardian angel in heaven.
Jonathan enjoyed playing the mandolin, researching international shipping companies and his and Carol's land and river boat tours of England, Ireland and Europe. Jonathan was a member of the Youngstown Ski Club, Lynda Cohen Yiddish Club of Dayton, St. Andrews Society of Dayton, DAV, American Legion and various carving clubs in Michigan and Ohio.
