Johny R. Smith

Johny R. Smith, age 74, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on October 25, 2023. He was born on August 16, 1949 in Cookeville, Tennessee, to the late Noah and Vivian Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Shirley Allen, Carolyn Siedenstriker, and Pamela Moyer.

Johny is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Theresa Smith; daughter Christine (John) Simmons and son David (Kimberly) Smith; grandchildren Meaghen, James, Ian, Shawn, Evan, Ezekiel, Josiah, and Ezra; brother Rick (Laquita) Smith; sister Patricia Kirkland and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ciera and Steve, as well as Jennifer and Scott for all their help to Theresa while Johny was ill. Special thanks to nieces Ashley and Jessica for their love and emotional support.

Johny was an avid guitar player, lover of music, and played gospel music for decades at various churches and festivals. His greatest joy was his family and he loved nothing more than getting together for dinners and fellowship. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 3 to 5 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel.
