Johnny D. Sturgill Sr.

Johnny D. Sturgill, age 69, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away on August 18, 2024 after a long battle with medical issues. He was born on September 13, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Mary and Hubert Sturgill. Johnny was an owner/operator truck driver for several years and then became a Master electrician. He liked to hunt and fish, but most of all, he loved to golf with his family and friends. Johnny never passed up good food, either, and he enjoyed a good cigar. He will be deeply missed by family and many friends and neighbors.

Johnny was preceded in death by his brother in law, Joseph H. Salyers.

Johnny is survived by two sons; Johnny D. (Shelley Saunders) Sturgill Jr. of Peoria, Arizona and Shane (Kirsta Focht) Sturgill of Huber Heights, Ohio, seven grandchildren; Anne Hartgraves of Bothel, Washington, Dempsey Austin Sturgill of Peoria, Arizona, Hunter Sturgill of Indiana, Colton Sturgill, Collin Sturgill, Caden Sturgill and Carson Sturgill.

Johnny also leaves behind one sister, Judy Salyers, of Fairborn, Ohio, three brothers; Thomas Sturgill of Dayton, Ohio, Bobby Sturgill of Wilmington, Ohio and Allen (Shanna Ward) Sturgill of Tipp City, Ohio and several nieces and nephews

Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Tuesday September 3, 2024 at 12:00 pm with funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm. Johnny will be buried at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in New Carlisle.
