Johnny Michael Staten, age 58, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 6, at his residence in Dayton, Ohio. He was the first son and second child of the late Clarence Staten and Bertha Staten. He graduated from Trotwood Madison High School and obtained his bachelor's degree from Central State University.
He was a man of many talents, blessing many with his skill sets in auto mechanics and carpentry. He owned and operated a furniture moving company and serviced clients in Dayton and Cincinnati. His customers and associates thought highly of him.
Not only was he talented, he was also a giving and caring person. He was always there to help a friend in their time of need, fixing automobiles or being a great handy man within their homes.
He was an automobile enthusiast as many in his family. Cadillac convertibles were his favorite and he enjoyed restoring them. He also enjoyed gambling and shooting pool. He loved challenging the children in the family to basketball and his sisters to spades.
He knew the Lord and trusted him whole heartedly, especially in his last days on earth. He will be remembered as a child of God who chose to be a friend, helper and encourager.
In his memory, he leaves behind a loving and devoted companion, Delores Stafford; his mother, Bertha Staten ( late husband Clarence); his siblings, Barbara Kyles (Wiley), Tommy Staten (late wife Nicole) and Carla Rayner (Lee); his three children, Stacey Flenory (Steven), Kara Staten and Johnny Staten Jr.; his nephews, Wiley Kyles Jr., Wesley Kyles, Kevin Staten, and Trae Staten; his nieces, Whitney Hines (Robert) and Trinity Staten; his grandchildren, Carrigan, Kinley, Kaitlyn, Steven Flenory Jr. and Messiah Staten and his great niece, Nahla Hines; and many dear cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
