Johnie E. Howard, age 97 was born on February 18, 1926 in Mid, Kentucky to the late Callie and Maudie Howard. Johnie passed away on May 24, 2023 in Tampa, Florida.
Johnie served in the U.S. Army during WWII in France and Germany. Johnie worked for many years at Frigidaire Division of General Motors until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling, tennis, golf and gardening. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Cleo; his second wife of 27 years, Dee; his siblings, Thelma, Tilden, Mazie, Alta and Kenneth; his son in-law, Paul; his daughter in-law, Ruth and his step-children, Maryann and Scott.
He is survived by his children, Debbie Brown, Patty (Dave) Reece, Gary (Kathy) Howard and Larry Howard; step-daughter, Jane (Ken) Silas and his siblings Harold and Lucy. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Remembered by family and friends for his faithful, loving, giving, quiet manner as he traveled his journey on this earth.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am with services immediately following, all at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424. Pastor Chuck Zimmerman to officiate. Johnie will be laid to rest in Dayton Memorial Park.
