John W. VanHorn
Age 82, of Riverside, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at the Widow's Home.
John is survived by his wife of the past 62 years, Faye (Sprouse) VanHorn; his son, John VanHorn, Jr; son-in-law, Fred Casteel; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Letha Casteel and Shirley Evans.
During WW II John served in the United States Army Air Corps. In 1976 he retired from General Motors with 30 years of service and he was a long-time member of the New Life First Church of God.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home with interment to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Pastor Vernon B. Collins will officiate.
