SZILAGYI, John, age 84, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2009. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Julia Szilagyi; brothers, Joseph, Ernest, & Elmer and sisters, Lee Szilagyi & Julia Salminin. He is survived by his loving wife, Helene, of 59 years; sons, Larry & wife, Nancy of Bradford, OH, Joseph Szilagyi of Huber Heights, OH; daughters, Christine & husband, Bill Knapp of Lyons, CO, Deborah & husband, Gene Vance of Yellow Springs, OH, Gina & husband, Greg Hester of LaCosta, CA; brother, James Szilagyi of Cisko, TX; sisters, Irene Westfall of Englewood, OH, Ann Crockett of Albuquerque, NM; grandsons, Billy & Jonathan Knapp, Aaron Szilagyi of Bradford, OH, Jacob Szilagyi of Huber Heights, OH, John Hester; granddaughter, McKenna Hester; great grandchild, Gavin Knapp; step grandchildren, David & Lisa Zeh of Pleasant Hill, OH, Christopher & Amy Zeh of Phenix City, AL; step great grandchildren, Payton Zeh, Jaelee, Emmarie, and Trace Zeh. From 1943 to 1993 John worked in many local companies usually as a tool or special machine designer. From 1981 to 1991 he was employed at Mound Laboratories in Miamisburg, OH to work for the U.S. Dept. of Energy as a tool & mechanical designer. John always had a great interest in aviation & the sciences. He was a licensed pilot & loved to fly, doing so from 1947 thru 2000. For many years he was a member of Aircraft Owners & Pilots Assoc. & Experimental Aircraft Assoc. He often remarked how very fortunate he was to have a loving wife, great family, friends & a very good long life. After some years of contemplation, it became his choice not to have visitation or services & to be cremated. A private remembrance will be held by his family at a time of their choosing.
