John Henry Stukenborg

May 31, 1922 — December 17, 2021

Stukenborg, John Henry
Age 99, long-time resident of Beavercreek, passed away December 17, 2021. John was born and raised in Coldwater, Ohio. At the age of 19, he began working at NCR in Dayton, Ohio. He enlisted into the Navy in 1941. While in the Navy, he sailed many places, California, New Zealand, Hawaii, and Cuba, on a Liberty Ship - a treacherous ship to be on during WWII. When he returned, he resumed his job at NCR and married and lived in Dayton, eventually buying a house in Beavercreek.

Some of his hobbies were fishing and bowling. He was a member of a bait casting club at NCR's Old River Park. He enjoyed family and friend fishing trips to Michigan and Canada. He retired from NCR after 40 years and enjoyed owning a trailer on St. Mary's Lake in Coldwater and traveling to various destinations out west, including Las Vegas and Phoenix. He took great pride in his home and could be found mowing, gardening, or sitting on his swing with his "Best Dog Ever", Maggie. John was a good and caring husband, father, grandfather, and neighbor. He cared about others and was a very God-driven soul and encouraged that vision within his family.

Preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Charles Stukenborg, his sisters Rita Traynor, Rosemary Rieger, Mary Ann Bruns and brother Greg Stukenborg. John lost the love of his life, his amazing wife of 72 years, Jean, earlier this year and he never recovered after her death. John is survived by his three children and their spouses, Doug and Kay, Rick and Cathy Travers, Jill Jennewine and Tom Schamer and former husband Tim Jennewine. Also, grandchildren and their spouses, respectively, Matt and Kim and son in law, Nich Hughes, Jacob and daughter in law, Katie, and Sara Starr, ex husband Lance Starr and Trevor Jordan Justin and Brenton and Emily Jennewine and great grandchildren, Annabelle Travers, Joshua, Marcus, and Daniel Starr.

The family would like to express their appreciation to all the friends of the family that visited, called and sent letters while John was in Assisted Living before going to be with the Lord.

Lastly, our family wants to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Gardenview staff at Bethany Village.
