John H. Smoot Sr.

John H. Smoot Sr., age 85 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born September 5, 1932 in Geiger, Alabama, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Smoot.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Veatrice Smoot; and sisters, Delia Smoot and Leola Hopkins.
John is survived by his sons, James (Monica) Smoot, John H. Smoot, Jr., Curtis (Betty) Smoot, Tyrone Smoot; grandchildren, Kinyarda Smoot, Kashawana (Cassius) Ivy, Derrick (Nakita) Smoot, James Smoot, Jamarr Smoot, Sherika (Darrell) Ward; numerous great grandchildren; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 11 am to 12 pm at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church (301 Mia Ave., Dayton, OH 45417). Funeral service will begin at 12 pm.
