SINGER, John D. (Don), age 83, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010 in Dayton, Ohio.
Don is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Singer.
He is a veteran of the United States Navy and served in both WWII and the Korean War. He retired after 34 years from John Deere. Engineering was his career, but art was Don's passion. Don was an accomplished designer, jewelry-maker, calligrapher and silversmith. Don devoted much of his free time to supporting the arts in Iowa, serving on several boards and committees, including the National Assembly of State Art Agencies, Waterloo Recreation and Arts Center and the Waterloo Community Playhouse.
He is survived by his daughters, Pam (Ron) Lambert of Dayton, Ohio, and Julie Singer of Waterloo, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Briley, Rhiannon (Brandon), Alyssa, JD and Kelsey and 5 great-grandchildren, James, Aydin, Michaela, Leila and Porsche.
Funeral services will be held, Friday, May 28 at 11:00 AM at Patterson Park Church, 3655 East Patterson Rd, Beavercreek, Ohio 45430. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Dayton National Cemetery with Military Honors.
