John Walter Search, age 68 of Dayton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. He was born July 22, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Walter and Louise Search.
John worked at Gem City Engineering for 33 years. He was very active in the homeless community with My Brother's Keeper through The Living Word Church. He loved to go on adventures with the love of his life, Jean. He was a Godly father figure and adored spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, often becoming a big kid. He was the glue that held the Search family together. John had a heart for serving the Lord and sharing the message of hope with everyone he met.
He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Jim Brewer and brothers-in-law, Brad Carter & Jim Reeves.
John is survived by his wife of 18 years, Jean; children, Chris (Lori) Peters & Carrie (Brian) Snell; grandchildren, Mikey (Jessica), Brandon, Trenten, Jenna & Xander; great grandson, Nathan James; sisters, Alice Search-Carter, Rebecca Lee & Nancy (Steven) Search; mother-in-law, Betty Brewer; nephews, G.B.Lee IV (Michelle), Robert Lee & Joseph Carter and great niece and great nephews, DeAndra, Devyn, Deric, Travis, Andrew & Connor.
Memorial donations may be made to The Dayton Dream Center through The Living Word Church in John's honor.
Visitation will be Wednesday December 15, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm with a service at 6:30 pm at The Living Word Church (926 E. National Road, Vandalia, Ohio 45377).
