John Richard O'Neill, of Kettering, Ohio passed away at Hospice of Dayton on April 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born November 4, 1943 in Cincinnati, Ohio and grew up in Springfield, Ohio. He graduated from Springfield Catholic Central High School in 1962.
John served in the U.S. Air Force overseas during the Vietnam War. Afterwards, he worked much of his career as a banker for National City Bank. He also worked in the business offices for the Dayton Greek Orthodox Church and Precious Blood Catholic Church in North Dayton. He volunteered at Kettering Medical Center in the Neurology Department at the main campus in Kettering, Ohio. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Browns, and a funny, generous, kind soul who lived his life in service to others.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur A. O'Neill and Ruth (Bibb) O'Neill, his sisters Phyllis Kearney and Sister Mary O'Neill of the Carmelite Order, his uncle John Peter O'Neill, brothers-in-law Douglas Maue and Charles Hodges, and his grandson Ryan Dennison.
He is survived by his loving wife Cassandra O'Neill, his four children, Kathleen O'Neill (Cindy White), Patrick (Gaye) O'Neill, Timothy O'Neill (Julie Roselius), and Jennifer (Denny) Dennison; his sisters Catherine O'Neill, Mitzie O'Neill (John Johannemann), Nancy (Ronald) McPhillips, Judith O'Neill, and Susan O'Neill (Robert Wallace); his brother in-law Dennis (Joann) Wade and sister in-law Pam Slightam; his four step-children, Lisa (Matt) Tanksley, Tamara (Scott) Jones, Daniel (Deanna) Hull, and Tony Hull (Jill Hamilton); his nine grandchildren, Nicholas (Barbara) O'Neill, Samantha (Melvin) Robinson, Shaun O'Neill (Stephen Anderson), Benjamin O'Neill, Rachel O'Neill, and Katie Dennison; three step-grandchildren, Sydney Jones, Ethan Jones, and Ella Chiccehitto; and two great grandchildren, Brayden and Jaxon Robinson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Public visitation will be held at Ascension Catholic Church (2025 Woodman Dr, Kettering, OH 45420) on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00am with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am. John will be laid to rest at David's Cemetery following Mass.
