John R. Muncy Jr.

John Russell Muncy, Jr. , 62, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at his home in Franklin, Ohio. He was born on November 8, 1956 in Hazard, Kentucky to John and Geraldine (Allen) Muncy. John grew up in McHenry, Illinois and later moved to Miamisburg, Ohio. He graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1975.

John married Carolyn Cockerham in 1977 in Miamisburg. They were happily married for over 41 years.

John started preaching at the age of 12, and continued preaching throughout high school. He and his wife entered full time ministry as youth pastors at Miamisburg Assembly of God in 1977. A year later they started full time evangelistic work and founded Jesus Cares Ministries. They travelled with their 4 children throughout the United States preaching the gospel, leading many to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. He continued in the ministry until his death.

John is survived by his wife Carolyn of Franklin, Ohio; his daughter Bethany of Franklin, Ohio; son Titus (Lindsay) of Austin, Texas; daughter Moriah of Franklin, Ohio; son Josiah (Kylee) of Delphi, Indiana; mother Geraldine Muncy of Aurora, Missouri; sister Melissa (Steve) Struttman of Jenks, Oklahoma; beloved dog Mia; and many other relatives. John was preceded in death by his father John Russell Muncy, Sr.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 5-8 pm at Miamisburg Assembly of God, 501 N 9th St, Miamisburg, OH 45342. The service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the church at 11am, with a gathering one hour prior. His son, Pastor Josiah Muncy, will be officiating the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Jesus Cares Ministries, 4460 Mad River Road, Franklin, Ohio 45005.
