WATERS, John Monroe "Mother's Finest" age 71 of Dayton, after a long term illness, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born January 16, 1934, son of Matilda Waters who preceded him in death, as well as his sister Shirley Waters and his grandson Lewis A. Woodruff. For many years he was a volunteer ceramic instructor at the senior citizens center located on 4th Street, downtown Dayton, and received a recognition award for teaching mentally challenged students in his class. He began volunteering after a medical retirement from ABC Cleaning and Window Washing Services. He played softball for the Senior Citizens of Kettering. His hobbies include camping, fishing, hiking and computers. He was a member of Residence Park Church of Christ. He is survived by Mary, his loving wife of 35 years, his sons Darrell, Terry and wife Elaine, James, Starlain and wife Davida, Gary and wife Nancy and Eric; daughters Cheryl and husband Tony, Starla and husband Mike, Charlotte, , Diahnne and husband Martin; brothers Robert and wife Claire, William and wife Rheutlia; grandchildren Rosalyn, Tamika, Andrea, Amanda, Ashley, Mary Kay, Raymond, Charles, Kiahnna, Shadarrah, Taneesha; and a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 26, 2005 at Residence Park Church of Christ 4328 Hoover Ave., with Gerald Wilder Sr. officiating.
