John B. King, 89, of Dayton, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Grace Brethren Village after an extended illness. He was born in Clairfield, TN on January 21, 1925 to the late Paris and Madalene (Neumann) King.
In his youth, he played baseball and was an avid fan throughout his life.
John served his country in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Hancock.
He worked as a Meat Department Manager for various local grocers for over 40 years.
John was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Temple where he served as an usher.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Edna King and his granddaughter, Alissa King.
John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rosa; sons, Larry (Michelle) King and Robert (Cynthia) King; 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Friday, June 13, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, at Cornerstone Baptist Temple, 1707 Ohmer Ave, Dayton 45410, Pastor Jerry Siler officiating, with burial to follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Temple.
