John "Jack" Kearns III, age 100, of Miamisburg passed away on July 11, 2023. He was born in Prattsville, New York on March 10, 1923 to the late John Kearns II and Alice Kearns. In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his loving wife, F. Jean Kearns and infant son, Tommy Kearns.
Jack is survived by his daughters, Patricia Milne of Miamisburg, Kathleen (Doug) Klueh of Australia; grandchildren, Chris (Tiffany) Milne, Shawn Klueh, Leslie (Shane) Hockings, Julia Milne; great-grandchildren, Alecia (Danny) Phillips, Kyla (Jordan) Light, Chayse Milne, Jackson Temple, Cooper Temple, Halie Milne, Breanna Hockings, Hayden Hockings, Emmaline Klueh; great great-grandchildren, Norah Phillips; sister, Anne Osika of Hyde Park, New York; along with many other nieces and nephews.
Jack was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War having served with the US Marine Corps in both wars. He served 30 years as a civilian engineer with the US Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Subsequent to his career with the US Air Force, he started and served as President of Midwest Systems Research Corp. until his retirement in 1993. Jack particularly appreciated the opportunity to work as a volunteer at Kettering Memorial Hospital where he participated for over 20 years. He was a true "jack of all trades" and an amazing father, grandpa, great-grandpa and great great-grandpa. He was the smartest guy in the room, but always humble. Jack was extremly respected and truly loved by all who knew him, and we were so lucky to have had so many wonderful years with him.
Per Jack's request, "Don't be sad, be happy for me because I've gotten a great promotion."
A Memorial Mass will begin at 11:30 am on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 6 S. 3rd St., Miamisburg, OH 45342.
