John Jeffrey Hartley
JJ Hartley
Age 43, of Dayton, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 27, 2008, at his home.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Edward Jr & Thomas Edward Hartley.
JJ is survived by his parents, John E. & Carolyn J. (Mullins) Hartley; grandmother, Betty Mullins; his estranged wife, Kimberly Hartley; three sisters, Carolyn G. (& husband, Bill) Iwanusa, Ann M. Cordray & Rachel L. (& husband, Dave) Marshall; nieces & nephews, Jesse, Gwendolynn, Sharon, Eric, Amanda, Kendra, Alisha & Katherine; great niece & nephew, Gideon & Elenor; and by his extended family & many good friends.
JJ was a veteran of the United States Army, and a member and current Commander of American Legion Post # 613; County Council Commander with the American Legion; and previously served as Chaplain, First Vice-Commander and Executive Board member of the American Legion. He was also a member of VFW Post # 5018 where he served on the Honor Guard Team.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday (7/1), at the Dayton National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday (7/1), at the Brookville Church of the Brethren.
In lieu of flowers contributions should be made in memory of JJ to either his American Legion or VFW posts.
