John "Jack" R. Hohl, age 90 of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully on December 31, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born on November 6, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana son of the late Carl and Irene (Tate) Hohl.
He was raised on a farm in Beavercreek, Ohio. Jack owned Jack's Speed Shop on McGee Street. He helped build Kil-Kare Drag Strip/Speedway and is in their Hall of Fame. He owned Jack Hohl Auto Service for over 60 years.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl and Dick Hohl; sisters, Mary Catherine Murphy, Rita Spraley, and Gretchen DeBrosse.
Jack is survived by his love of 35 years, Marty (Cotter) Dakin; son, Jack and M.J. Hohl; grandchildren, Nicolas, Ian, Christopher, and Olivia Hohl; brother, Martin Hohl (Vivian deceased). He is also survived by Marty's children, Molly Dakin (Marc Byrd), and her children Dylan and Claire, Katie Tischler (Paul) and their children Lucas and Lilly; Jack had many nieces and nephews whom he adored.
Jack was a life member of the Shamrock Athletic Club, Milton Club, and the Polish Club. He was also a member of Liederkranz Club, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the American Czech. Jack loved his garden, The Browns, The Reds, and the Stockyards Inn. Jack's passion was polka dancing with Marty (mom). He will be truly deeply missed by his loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jack's honor to The Hospice of Dayton.
The State of Ohio is under a mandatory mask order and has required that face masks will be worn in all public places.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 6-8:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton- Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432).
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Emmanuel Catholic Church (149 Franklin Street, Dayton Ohio 45402).
