John Stanley Huff

John S. Huff, age 77 of Dayton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness , with his family by his side on November 4, 2024. He was born September 30, 1947 in Norton, VA son of the late Olen and Lilly Huff.

John was a devoted husband, loving brother, uncle, and friend. John was a Veteran of the Vietnam war, serving as a boat operator. He was so proud to serve his country and could be found looking through his Army annual frequently in his later years. He retired from Cox Enterprises, formerly known as the Auto Trader and Trading Post. John loved his Harley Davidson which was his pride and joy and he was a member of the Patriot Guards. John had a heart of Gold, he loved helping others and making sure those around him were taken care of. He had a passion for hunting, and old style cars and could be found out in the garage tinkering away. He was an avid sports fan and the Bengal's was his team. John will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. 

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Sandra Reece, Mabel (Bill) Anderkin, Curtis (Rita) Huff, Billy Joe Huff, and Bobby Wayne.

John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley "Sam" McMillan; brother, James "Jim" Huff; brother-in-law, Jay Reece; sister-in-law, Barb Huff; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as several other family members and friends. 

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, 5650 Powell Valley Road, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Johns honor to Hospice of Dayton. 

The family would like to express their gratitude to his Hospice Home Nurse, Elizabeth and his sitter, Debbie for their love and care that they showed John and his family through this difficult time.
