John "Johnny" E. Hodson, "Uncle John", was born August 17, 1949, in Xenia, OH; He went home to be with Jesus on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Kettering Memorial Hospital. He was the youngest of 4 children and preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Lillian Hodson: sister, Barbara Estle and brother, Paul "Elmer" Hodson; great niece, Rebekah Wick and great nephews, Ron Wick, Jr and Eddie Duke, Jr.
For many years John owned his own construction and remodeling company in several states. When returning to Ohio, he would later serve as the Maintenance Manager in several apartment complexes. This allowed John to meet new people and form new friendships that carried over for many years.
John was a dedicated and faithful member of at Fairborn Full Gospel Tabernacle where he was affectionately known as "Uncle John" by all. He could be found every Sunday participating in studies, assisting in maintenance projects, and playing lead guitar. He was the Candy Man and brought candy every week to the kids and anyone else who asked.
John loved music and loved to play music. He was a talented bass guitar player as well as played lead guitar. He played with his family group, The Hanings, for many years and enjoyed playing in different venues.
John always had a caring and compassionate heart to those who were in need. Many times, he would give all his money to make sure that someone else had food or clothes. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it and never complained about helping. John had a heart of gold and tried to tell everyone about Jesus.
John is survived by his remaining sibling, Jonda (Bob) Palmer of Xenia, OH. Nephews: Jimmy (Crystal) Haning of Xenia, OH; David (Sandy) Haning of Xenia, OH; John (Charity) Estle of Beavercreek, OH; Rick (Stephanie) Estle of Dayton, OH. Nieces: Lisa (Ron) Wick of Xenia, OH; Laura Haning of Xenia, OH; Jeanie Estle of Fairborn, OH as well as 21 Great Nephew/Nieces and 13 Great, great Nephews/Nieces.
John never met a stranger; he would always leave the room with smiles and laughter wherever he went. To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement. John was one of a kind, there will never be another Uncle John but for those who knew him he touched their hearts forever.
