John Hodges

John Hodges, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 84. Born on November 7, 1940, in London, Kentucky, John lived a life filled with purpose, dedication, and love for his family and work.

For many years, John was a loyal employee of Simms Construction, where he built not only structures but also lasting relationships within the industry. His entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly when he and his wife, Linda, created a cornerstone of the local community by owning and operating Cactus John's for an impressive 45 years. Their establishment became a place where friends gathered and memories were made.

John was a man of many interests; he found joy in fishing, golfing, and nurturing his yard, activities that reflected his love for the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life.

John is survived by his two daughters, Diane Johnson (Chris) and Debbie Hodges (Johnny Tudor), who were proud to call him father. He was also a cherished grandfather to his grandchildren, Steven Johnson and Kevin Johnson (Brittany), who brought great joy to his life. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Bryce and Dominic, whose laughter will forever remind the family of his warm presence.

John is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Linda Hodges, and his parents, Willard and Emma Hodges. John will be dearly missed but warmly remembered in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Contributions may be made in John's memory to Hospice of Dayton.
