Waker, John Henry Jr., age 56, of Kettering, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton. John attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and was a 1971 graduate of Belmont High School. He was a retired volunteer firefighter with the City of Kettering serving for over 27 years, and also retired from the City of Kettering with over 23 years of service. He loved fishing and just being with his family. John is survived by his wife of 31 years: Nancy (Fisher) Waker; daughters and son-in-law: Amy Loyd, Christina (Nick) Kovach, Jennifer Faris, Karen Gifford; grandchildren: Jordon & Taylor Medlin, Sheridan, Sidney & Skyler Faris, Joey, Mikala & Miranda Loyd, Sam & Noah Cass; sister and brother-in-law: Pat (Jerry) Stubbs; brothers and sister-in-law: David (Karen) Waker of Colorado, Donald Waker; sister-in-law: Rita J. Young; dear friends: Liz & Harry Bennett, Ernie & Rhonda Reid, Mike & Tami Freshwater; all of his brothers with the Kettering Fire Department, especially Company 33; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; John Henry Sr. & Eileen (Hollenbaugh) Waker; and sister: Marsha Cundiff. Memorial services will be held atSouthbrook Christian Church Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service.
