John Harve Burns, age 98, of Dayton, OH passed away June 3, 2015. John was born in Clay County, Kentucky to Sarah and James E. ("Little Jimmie") Burns on January 4, 1917.
John was a barber and owned the B&W Barbers shop for 65 years and was part of Dayton's history. He served in World War II in the 11th Infantry, 5th Division also known as the "Red Diamond" division. He spent his last years well cared for at Liberty Nursing Home in Centerville. John married Hazel Humphrey on August 10, 1982. He was a kind and generous man to all who knew him. He was a Christian and a lifelong Democrat, always ready for a political debate.
John is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers McCreary, Gardner, Stanley, Mitchell, Hursle, Millard, Robin and James, his sisters Ethel and Carlene, his son Mark, and his wife Hazel.
He is survived by his grandsons Mark, Joseph and Jeremy, great grandchildren Jack and Haley, numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved little dog Tutu.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Dayton National Cemetery on July 29, 2015 at 11:00am with military honors.
