John F. Tebalt, age 78 of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. John was born in Ontario, PA on March 23, 1942 to the late Frank J. Tebalt & Elizabeth K. (John) Sevec.
John proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1963; primarily stationed in Germany. A man who embraced and loved life, never met a stranger, worked as hard as he played, biggest enjoyment was spending time with friends, family, and neighbors, loyal to his family and always ready for a good laugh, and generous to all. John loved traveling, fishing, and woodworking.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Durdines and daughter, Darlene (Tom) Carter.
John is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mollie Tebalt; children, Thomas Tebalt, Carol (Brian) Heflin Nee Tebalt, and Donna (Steve) Gaston; grandchildren, Chrissy Carter, Justin (Jennifer Geiger) Carter, Anna Margaret-Elizabeth Heflin, Olivia Lynn Heflin, Shaun A. (Allison) Gaston and Brandon M. Gaston; great-grandchildren, Bobby Crutchfield Jr., Brianna Saldana and Christopher Saldana; great-great-grandchildren, Easton Crutchfield, Presley Crutchfield; nephew, Casey Durdines; and many other extended relatives and best friend, Gene Jarman.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 9-11 am at Newcomer Centerville Chapel, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45458. The service will follow at 11 am. John will be laid to rest at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville, OH.
To the world you are our dad, but to our family you are our world. A man who inspired us, never holding us back, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way. If there is any immortality to be had, it is in the love we leave behind so fathers like ours don't ever really die.
