John F. Rievley, 78, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2006, at Miami Valley Hospital, as a result of a devastating brain stem stroke. He was born March 21, 1928 in Bryan, Tennessee, the son of James E. Rievley and Grace Martin Everding, He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 48 years, Mary C. Rievley, brothers James and Martin, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, Surviving him are his daughters and sons-in-law, Jane Rievley (Al) Andrews of Florida, and Joy (Jeff) Gevedon of Fairborn. John retired from the B-1 SPO at WPAFB in 1992, after 34 years of service as an engineer. He was a veteran of the Korean War and received his Bachelor's in Engineering from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. He was an avid cat lover and a generous charity donor to both animals and people in need, as he had been a child of poverty and wished to help improve life for those less fortunate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in John's memory be made to either the Animal Welfare League in Springfield, or to SICSA in Kettering. Visitation and funeral services will be at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 19 only from 5-8; there will be no visitation before the funeral on Monday November 20 at 9:30 a.m. The funeral will be for family and invited guests only. Interment will be in Enon Cemetery.
