John Edward Blesi

Blesi, John Edward, age 89, of Kettering, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2010. He was preceded in death by his precious wife of 67 years: Phyllis; his parents: Walter & Ethel Blesi; brother: Walter; sister: Charlene Koverman. He is survived by his beloved children: Joan Allen of South Carolina, John H. Blesi of Florida, Marilyn (Mike) Duffy; grandchildren: Rob Hanna, Kristi George, Laurie Duffy, Megan Duffy; great granddaughter: Catherine George; special nephews: Fred & Bob Blesi; and many other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

John was born in Dayton on November 17, 1920 and grew up in the South Park and UD neighborhood. He graduated from Stivers High School in 1938. He learned golf from his father who was a PGA professional and cultivated a life long love for the game. He is a former city champion and inductee of the 1981 Dayton Amateur Golf Hall of Fame. He was a charter member of NCR country club and a four time south course club champion. He always thought life was enriched by the friendships made through the game of golf.

John worked at NCR for over 29 years, then with his brother Walter at Thaler Machine, and retiring from F&G Tool and Die. The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Interim for their kind treatment over the years.

Memorial services will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 11:30 A.M. until time of service. Arrangements in care of Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel).
