John E. Slaven

John E. Slaven, age 80 of Huber Heights, Ohio passed away at his home on May 19, 2024. He was born December 18, 1943 in Whitesburg, Kentucky son of the late John M. and Lizzie Slaven.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Eagles and the Fraternal Order of Police, both of Huber Heights, Ohio. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, J.B Slaven; sisters, Ellie Shields, Juanita Collins, and Delores Western.

John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arlean Slaven; son, John (Allyson) Slaven; grandchildren, Nicole, Josh, Jessie (Gavin), and Trinity; great grandson, Neeko; several nieces and nephews; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 6-7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A funeral service will begin at 7pm at the funeral home.
