John "Jack" E. Sheedy, age 89, went to be with the Lord on July 11, 2016.
After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, John was honorably discharged, and welcomed back home from Germany by his entire Brooklyn neighborhood. Soon after his homecoming, he met the love of his life, Ada. They were married for 66 years and had four children.
John will be missed dearly. He loved people and enjoyed making others laugh. His grandchildren and great granddaughters knew him as Pop Pop Jack and they loved his quick wit and bright spirit because it always brought laughter to any situation.
John is survived by his wife Ada; children, Irene, Kathleen, James (Phyllis), and John (Maria); nine grandchildren and two great granddaughters; and numerous extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 18, 2016, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm. Burial will be in the Dayton National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the W.W. II Memorial, P.O. Box 71, Holbrook, N.Y., 11741, in John's memory.
