Went Home to Jesus
John Denny Hurst, Jr. passed into heavens gates on Wednesday July 20th, 2016. JD was born January 8th, 1923 in Hutch Kentucky.
John (JD) was a faithful and loving husband to his wife (Frances) Alene Hurst who preceded him in death July 15th, 2014. JD was also a loving brother to 4 sisters and 3 brothers, all but Geneva and Victor remain behind.
JD was also a loving Uncle to many neices and nephews and friend to countless others.
He served in WWII in the Army Corp of Engineers in the European Theater and loved his country and was very proud to have served. He had countless stories of his time of military service.
JD also loved many forms of music and especially blue grass. He could play the mandolin with great skill.
JD was a carpenter and craftsman by trade and not only built homes in the Dayton area but also made antique furniture as a young man growing up in Kentucky.
He loved his family and was a great testimony of a quiet, kind and humble man that would always "try to do the right thing".
He will be greatly missed by many. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 2pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Kettering Chapel. Visitation to take place for one hour prior (1pm-2pm). Military Honors to be rendered at service. Burial to take place on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Minton Family Cemetery in Virginia.
