CROCKETT, John J., 78, of Riverside passed away Friday March 27, 2009 at Miami Valley Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents Francis and Effie Crockett; wife Blanche W Crockett; brother James Crockett; sisters Lucille Hatfield and Dorothy Duncan. John is survived by son Chris (Janet) Crockett; brothers Lynn (Norma) Crockett, Bill Crockett, Phillip (Virginia) Crockett, Lloydd (Mary) Crockett, and Wendell Crockett; sisters Mary (John) Guthrie, Nellie Hogan, and Justine Wheaten; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was a veteran in the U.S. Marine Corps, from 1950-1953, with service in Korean War. He was a member of Solar Lodge 730, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, life member of the VFW Post 3283, life member of Amvets Post 734, and Sulphur Grove U.M.C. He retired from General Motors after 40 years of service and was a member of the 25 year club. John loved the outdoors and spent his time hunting and fishing. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Friday April 3, 2009 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00PM Thursday April 2, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Shriners Burn Hospital, 815 Market St., Galveston TX 77550-2725 .
