John Ernest Cox, age 75 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Dayton V.A. Hospice. He was born November 6, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Moses and Beatrice Cox.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Cox; grandson, Charlie; brother, Phillip Cox; uncles, Harold Cox and Glen Rayburn; sister-in-law, Susi Cox; and brother-in-law, Tom Burch.
John will be missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Ruby; children, Tammy Taguacta, Dianna (Matthew, Sr.) Barnhill, Stephen Cox and John (Ashley) Cox; grandchildren, Tristian, Matthew Jr., Charles, George, Raiden, Nevaeh, Mikaya, Marissa, Alaina, Miles, Kayson; siblings, Mary (Thomas) Myers, Sarah Burch, Charles Cox, Joe Cox and Jimmy Cox; uncle, John Rayburn; and many nieces and nephews.
John proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. where he served two tours in Vietnam. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who would do anything in the world for his children. He loved spending time with his family which included his brothers and sisters. He was a generous and loving man who will be dearly missed by his family.
Family will receive friends Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton. Visitation will be held again Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow at the Dayton National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's memory to the Salvation Army or the VA Hospice.
