John Christiansen

June 25, 1928 — August 9, 2013

John "Chris" E. Christiansen Jr., age 85, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on Friday, August 9th, 2013 at Oak Creek Terrace.

He was preceded in death by his parents John. E. and Angela (Durand) Christiansen.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean (Peckenschneider), a son, Eric (Sally), of Seattle, WA, and daughter Karen (Tom) Ralston of Dayton, 2 grandchildren, Candice & John, 4 great-grandchildren & numerous friends.

Following high school in Davenport, IA, service in Italy and Triese with the U.S. Army, he received a BA degree in journalism from the University of Iowa. He was a proud Eagle Scout having served most recently on the troop committee of Troop 103 in Miamisburg. During his business career, he worked for NCR, several small advertising agencies in the Dayton area as well as GM and retired from the corporate staff of the Mead Corp. in 1991. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion having served more than 50 years. His eligibility for membership in the RCL was established by having served under British command in Italy.

A visitation will be held on Tues, Aug.13th, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, with a service following at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to the Heart Association.
