CHEPEL, John, age 88, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna Tsepelikas; the love of his life, after 58 years, wife, Lyndia Chepel; brother, Nicholas Chepel, and sisters, Agnes Christy and Stella Metaxas.
He is survived by his daughters, Connie (William) Anspach, Deborah (Charles) Dean, and Patricia Jewell Chepel; grandchildren, John (Teresa) Flanagan, Timothy Flanagan, Kristine Karmeris, Kathryn (John) Kuhr, Alex and Max Mallis, and Chad and Ian Dean; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Conner, and Sawyer Flanagan, Trey and Lily Kuhr; nieces and nephews, Chris Christie, Charles Metaxas, George Christie, Rosalie Christie, Virginia Metaxas, Anne Metaxas, Victoria Metaxas, their eight children, as well as many dear friends, including special friends, Francis Stowe and Louise and Debra Dean.
He had numerous friends at Palm Lake Village in FL and at Hospitality Homes of Xenia. He was also known as "Happy John". He served in WWII with the United States Navy and worked as a master furrier for most of his career. John was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospitality Homes East Skilled Nursing Home for their kind and loving care.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday, September 3, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beaverceek with Rev. Pamela Gaylor officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the funeral home.
