John F. Caramico, 73, of Johnstown, PA, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Laurels of West Carrollton. He was born March 25, 1947 to the late Frank and Catherine (DiBuono) Caramico. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Roan Shawn Hatton.
John is survived by daughters, Dina (Caramico) Dues of Dayton and Trish (Julia Conrad) Caramico of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Christopher Greene, Heather (Doug Hatton) Greene, and Preston Dues; great-grandson, Cayden Wayne Hatton; sister, Sandra (Richard) Krabal; nephews, Douglas and David; and many cousins and extended family.
John's greatest passion in life was teaching English. His career began in Johnstown, PA at Richland High School. Bringing something new and different to the classroom, his students loved him and eventually dubbed him "Mico." Throughout his life, Mico influenced his students and made a lasting impression on many, who would continue to reach out to him throughout their careers and lives.
He was an avid book lover and could almost always be found among the shelves of a bookstore. His love for books and reading was something he adored sharing with his children and grandchildren. John also really enjoyed theater and performed in many plays and musicals in his younger years. He really loved to dance.
John was selfless and always excited to show his love through gift-giving and it brought him so much joy to make his family happy. John was truly an Italian-family man and they always came first to him. If his family was happy, he was happy. He never wanted his kids or grandkids to go without and made sure they always had what they needed or wanted. He will be deeply missed.
Due to the circumstances of the pandemic, no services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, if anyone has a story to share, please feel free to reach out to Trish and Dina on Facebook.
