John C. Lewber, 74, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015. He was born November 23, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late Edward and Florence Lewber.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence J. Lewber and grandchild, Robie.
He retired from Heidelberg Distributing after 25 years of service as a driver and salesman. As a young man John raced motocross and later began building and racing his own cars. He belonged to V.A.R.C. racing club where he served as President. He has raced on most of the tracks in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Zepherhills Race track in Florida.
John is survived by his his loving wife, Pat Lewber; two daughters, Dawn (Ray) Socrates and Jamie Tolle; two sons, John L. (Kristen) Lewber and Kascy L. (Carrie) Lewber; two step-sons, James H. Clarke and Joseph E. Clarke; step-daughter, Deborah L. Heath; eight grandchildren, Drew, Rebeka, Jesseye, Cheyenne, Jacob, Tara, Kylee, Tyler, Dylan, Emilee and Logan; he is also survived by numerous family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home North Chapel 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45424. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
