BEARD, John F. "Jack", age 76, of Dayton, passed away Friday, January 27, 2006. He was born June 5, 1929 in Cleves, OH, the son of John and Lula (Fox) Beard. Jack was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was very involved in youth sports with the Ledex Biddy Basketball Program, Medlake Little League, started the Tecumseh Area Boys Basketball (T.A.B.B.), and in the early 70's was the Jaycee's Man of The Year for his volunteer work. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mildred (Rinehart) Colter; Step-mother, Wanda Beard; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Kathy and Dan Nelson of Las Vegas, Candy and Mike Hadden of Washington Court House; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jack and Margaret Beard of Urbana, Kevin Beard of Pleasant Hill; three step-daughters, Robin (Jerry) Tackett, Laura (Tim) Musgrove, Terri Minnich; 12 grandchildren, Robyn and Kristy Hadden, John, Jeff, and Josh Beard, Nick and Nate Beard, Chloe Nelson, Dan Minnich, Alex, David, Megan Musgrove; two great-granddaughters, Leara Beard and Madison Minnich; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Thomasine (Cheatham) Beard; both parents; two sisters; step-son, Scott Rinehart. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2006 from 4-7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (4104 Needmore Rd.) where funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. If desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton (324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH, 45420).
