John Alfiero, age 92, of Troy, Ohio passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015. John was born in New London, CT on March 17, 1923 to the late Joseph and Antonette Alfiero. He was preceded in death by sisters, Nancy, Nettie, Rosalie, and brothers, George and Jack.
John is survived by daughters, Jackie Pilecki and Dianna Sherrill; grandchildren, Lori McNett, Kimberly Ryan, Stephanie Travis, and Tony Travis; great-grandchildren, Adam, Hannah, Ella, Abby, and Sophia; brothers, Joseph Alfiero and Tony Alfiero; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
John was a decorated WWII Veteran, served in the U.S. Army, Armored Division, and was a Prisoner of War
Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd.) on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 1:30 - 2:30pm followed by a graveside service at the Dayton National Cemetery at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dayton V.A. Hospice.
