Joella J. (Kerley) Rooney

Joella Jane Kerley Rooney, age 75, passed away at Kettering Medical Center on Thursday, August 23, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Joella was born in Dayton, Ohio on January 15, 1943. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1961. Joella worked various jobs in the Dayton are but most importantly was the first female bus driver for the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA). She was an avid bowler, Elvis fanatic, and a member of the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Forest Q. Kerley and Mary Alice Kerley, along with many friends and family.
Joella will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Michael Kerley; children Stephen Leyes, Jennifer Gilliam, and Victor Rooney and his wife, Emily; her six grandchildren, Amanda, Randy, Theo, Jacob, Charles, Madison, and Isabella, and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 5:00pm until the time of service at 7:00pm at Newcomer, South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd.
A gift of love may be made to the family in care of Jennifer Gilliam.
