Joseph Henry Plochocki Jr., known affectionately as Joe, passed away after a courageous battle with Leukemia peacefully with his wife and his children by his side on July 23, 2024 at the age of 80 in Dayton, OH, where he was also born on April 15, 1944. He leaves behind a legacy filled with love, dedication and a vibrant passion for life.
Joe is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 52 years, Wendy Conn Plochocki; his son, Joseph Plochocki III and wife Doreen; his daughter, Michelle Braun and her husband Roland; and his grandson, George A. Schroerluke; his sisters, Constance (Michael Joly) Fread and Rosie (Michael) Phillips. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and special friends who will miss him dearly. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Plochocki Sr., and his mother, Mary Fread Plochocki.
An alumnus of Chaminade High School and attended Sinclair Community College. His professional life was marked by a successful career as a certified diamontologist. He spent many years in the jewelry business before retiring from Beyer Jewelers.
Joe’s personal life was filled with hobbies that spoke to his spirited and enthusiastic character. Joe loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and football, loyally supporting The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. His true passion was evident in his love for car shows, proudly driving his white Corvette and attending with Vern Cook. Joe also cherished spending weekends boating with his family and friends at their place in Ripley, Ohio. His support was unwavering when it came to watching his son Joey race and cheering on Michelle and Roland as they rode 100 miles for cancer research in the Pelotonia for The James Cancer Hospital. www.pelotonia.org/profile/MB0453
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM with his memorial service beginning at 10:30 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424. Joe will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, OH.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Blachly and his team at The Ohio State University - The James and to Hospice of Dayton.
