HIMEBAUGH, Joe Melvin, "Bampa" age 86, of Dayton, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 10, 2008 to join his beautiful bride of 63 years, Betty C. Himebaugh. He was a retired toolmaker from NCR and a graduate of West Carrollton High School. He served in WWII in the Army. He was the vocalist and played trumpet in the Charleston Air Force Band. Over the years, he played with many of the local big bands, had his own combo, and taught trumpet. He organized Antioch's Pote's Big Band and was their first director. He played with Antioch's Troubadours, was a member of St. John's Lodge, Scottish Rite, Antioch Shrine, and was also a member of the Miamisburg American Legion and Miamisburg Moose. He is survived by daughters, Patricia Annarino and Nancy Walton; son, Joe M. Himebaugh Jr. "Jody" of VT; twin brother, Ned Himebaugh; granddaughters, Sarah, Leah, and Rachel Annarino; grandsons, Mark and Matthew Himebaugh; dear friend, Regina Richardson; and so many friends at Lakewoods. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Stella; sister, Opal Gillette; and brother, Irvin. Graveside services will be held 11AM Monday, January 14, 2008 at David's Cemetery with Pastor Rob Wackerman officiating. Memorial contributions, if so desired, may be given in Joe's memory to the Shrine Burn Center for Children in Cincinnati and SICSA. Arrangements in care of Newcomer - South Chapel.
