Joe H. Buegler

July 20, 1938 — January 16, 2025

Joe H. Buegler, born on July 20, 1938, and affectionately known for his warm spirit and vibrant personality, passed away on January 16, 2025. Throughout his life, Joe was revered not only for his intelligence but also for his humbling grace and innate ability to connect with those around him.

Joe was a wonderful husband to his beloved wife, Polly Buegler, with whom he shared 66 cherished years of marriage. He was a devoted father to his children, Darla (Vic) Hurdle and Sharon (Keith) Hamby, and an adoring grandfather to his grandchildren: Luke (Candice) Hamby, Jason Hamby, Jarrod (Lyndsey) Hamby, Kara (Chris Hampton) Hamby, and Jessica (Nick) Smith. Adding to his legacy, Joe embraced the joy of great-grandparenthood with Silas Hamby, Karsten Hamby, Lola Hamby, Emersyn Joy Hamby, and the anticipated arrival of Margot Diane Hampton.

His family knew him as the joker in any competition, often breaking the ice with his remarkable ability to sign oldies songs that resonated with all. Joe was a man of many hobbies; he found immense pleasure in fishing and hunting, and loved engaging in games of backgammon, chess, and cards—activities that brought both joy and connection to his family and friends.

Joe was not only a loving family man but also a good judge of character, which helped cultivate a circle of lifelong friendships, including that with Jim (Lucille) Watson. His passing leaves a heartfelt void among many nieces, nephews, furry grandkids, and countless friends who were touched by his caring nature and wisdom.

Remembered fondly for his proudest accomplishment—building the family home where he cherished so many memories—Joe’s legacy will live on through the lives he influenced and the love he shared. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Joy Kay Buegler; his parents, Herman and Edith Buegler; and his sisters, Nancy Roderer, Shirley Comer, and Judy Shaw.

Joe H. Buegler will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to St. Jude's, Shriners Hospital or the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center.
